Waunarlwydd v Skewen | Sat 23 March 2019

Waunarlwydd emerge from a depressing winter of bad weather and results to chalk up a home win against Skewen.

Waun began strongly, but it wasn't until 20 minutes in that the first try came. A well worked move saw the ball go wide to release Lee Evans, putting in a clever kick for Sam Prigeon who took off like a fat kid chasing cake, using all his pace gathering the bouncing ball tremendously well and scoring in the corner.

HT Waunarlwydd 7 - 0 Skewen

Second half seen alot of ill discipline, Skewen had one red card for violent conduct but Waun had three yellows. Ryan Porter's eyes lit up at the prospect of a big tackle, but a miss pass saw him like a farther of 5, unable to pull out, clattering a player without the ball to receive a yellow and leaving Skewen a man up. Skewen took advantage, drawing Waun's defence before going wide, giving a walk in under the posts to draw level. Waun answered back with an excellent drop goal from 30yds by Lee Evans to gain the lead once again. Skewen fought hard but were unlucky missing a penalty last kick of the game for a draw.

FT Waunarlwydd 10 - 7 Skewen

Lots of good performances during the game with big defensive efforts from James Cleary and lots of tackling from Jamie Moore, but Lee Evans kicking being the difference between the two sides. Special mention to Darryl Moore playing well and almost intercepting on the half way line, unfortunately Moore went on to dislocate his shoulder, with all in Waun wishing him speedy recovery ready for next season.
